Stress Tools

Providing interactive stress support when it is most needed

3) ‘Relaxation’ stress tool

This stress tool presents the user with a series of breathing and relaxation exercises with onscreen, animated instructions. Instead of having to remember how to perform a relaxation technique from a seminar in the past, a user simply has to follow the onscreen instructions to reduce their stress levels.

The exercises range from diaphragmatic breathing to neuromuscular exercises. All of these exercises have been selected for their ability to be discretely performed within an office environment. The user can choose from beginner level breathing exercises to more advanced muscle and posture relaxation exercises.

More on how it works

Breathing is an involuntary, automatic function that reflects our general state of arousal. We can, however, learn to control our breathing to help control our state of arousal. The breathing centres in the brain have a strong relationship with the arousal centers. Constant, steady breathing promotes relaxation. It is almost impossible to be tense and have slow, relaxed, and deep breaths.

Muscle tension is one of the most common stress responses. The EOSS neuromuscular exercises involve muscle relaxation techniques designed to reduce tension levels within the body. The exercises involve learning how to feel the difference between tension and relaxation. This helps create a sense of mental relaxation as well as physical relaxation.
